Last month, we featured interviews with Infection Control Professionals to gain real insight into how they protect against hospital-acquired infections. The hospital environment presents a unique challenge to Environmental Services (EVS) providers, as they carry out their tasks and follow protocols to keep all areas of the hospital safe for patients, staff and visitors. What’s involved in a typical day, and what particular benefits of ready-to-use wipes do EVS staff depend on to help them throughout their day? We spoke to EVS Manager Marta Ferreira to find out.
Q: What’s a day like for EVS staff in the hospital?
A: “A day in EVS at the hospital is busy! Halls and patient rooms need to be swept and mopped, and surfaces like counters, bedrails and nursing stations need disinfecting. There are garbage and linen bags that need to be emptied.”
Q: How do you protect your hospital to ensure that it is clean and safe for staff, patients and visitors when they stay and visit?
